There is a declaration from those at “Occupy Wall Street on Facebook” , of whom are stating a Call to Action.

As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.

As one people, formerly… divided by the color of our skin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or lack thereof, political party and cultural background, we acknowledge the reality: that there is only one race, the human race, and our survival requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their brethren; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known.

  1. They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
  2. They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give CEO’s exorbitant bonuses.
  3. They have perpetuated gender inequality and discrimination in the workplace.
  4. They have poisoned the food supply, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
  5. They have continuously sought to end the rights of workers to negotiate their pay and make complaints about the safety of their workplace.
  6. They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.
  7. They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ healthcare and pay.
  8. They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.
  9. They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.
  10. They have sold our privacy as a commodity.
  11. They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press.
  12. They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit.
  13. They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.
  14. They have donated large sums of money to politicians supposed to be regulating them.
  15. They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.
  16. They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantive profit.
  17. They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty book keeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.
  18. They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.
  19. They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad.
  20. They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas.
  21. They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government contracts.
  22. They have participated in a directly racist action by accepting the contract from the State of Georgia to murder Troy Davis.
  23. They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless animals, and actively hide these practices.

To the people of the world: We, the New York City General Assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power. Exercise your right to peaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone.

To all communities that take action and form groups in the spirit of direct democracy: We offer support, documentation, and all of the resources at our disposal.

Join us and make your voices heard!

  1. You oversimplify. Not all of these things are simple.

-Animal testing is integral, and not one-sided. It is something that requires hours, days of debate to decide a state stance on.
-Troy Davis is unfortunate, but irrelevant, and not what people are protesting about.
-Sexism in the workplace is something the government already acts against. Perhaps you think they could do more, but that doesn’t mean this is something as simple as saying, “Tick this box that says ‘I promise to not slap women’s bums'”.
-If less profit were to be made from medicine, less money would be invested in it, and we would see less development. Again, not one-sided.
-Freedom of speech is already granted through the internet; it has to be protected, yes, but you can’t hold disdain for corporations expressing their own freedom of speech through the media they own.
    And so on.

If you are promoting ‘facts’, then please, for goodness’ sake, trim this list down to be only those points that we can all agree on. Otherwise, this is just idealist science fiction for whoever gets to decide what goes on the list.

  2. As much as I agree with what others would like added to the list, it should also be understood that the movement is still relatively new and may take time to revise to “perfection”.

  3. as one of a member of a so called”group”i wholeheartedly agree with what youre doing and the general principle behind it.i support my country but ot what the country has become..forgotten of its people, known only greed and hate for those different.if i could stand with you i would.you have my support and the support of many of us here watching over eight hundred miles away from you.

    1. Sherry,
We thank you kindly for your support!!!! Please keep up the great work, stay awake as you are, and serve to educate those around you!

  4. Two things should be added:

They have poisoned our water supplies, with oil, fluoride, dispersants, as well as invested billions of dollars into agencies that refuse to report or protect our water.

People have been banned from making their own decisions on what they consume, smoke, use, even when it in no affects the rights of others. ie. states have seat-belt laws, but some don’t have helmet laws for motorcycles. Shows how much they really care.

  5. People should have known, the American people, a vast majority of us, are not going to be treated like a third world country! And they should have seen, how the super rich people and corporations have taken control of our government. We are the dam government and we the people will take care of business!!

    1. It was the corporations at Breton Woods after the WW2 that created ‘third world’ as a concept and have continued to milk it ever since send all of us ever backwards. There should be NO third world countries…just people with rights.

  6. This is awesome but I see 2 fundamental problems with this declaration.

    1. No mention of abolishment of Fed Reserve and restoring lawful money as opposed to “legal tender”. This must happen PERIOD. The Federal Reserve is the backbone of the fraud and corruption and IS the problem. Wall Street is a SYMPTOM, we must address the problem!

    2. We are NOT a democracy; our fore fathers envisioned a REPUBLIC which is very close to a democracy but it is not the same thing. “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the united States of America, and TO THE REPUBLIC of which it stands…” This is important to understand that early in this country’s creation the American people were sovereign and so were the states. The “federal govt”(a corporation) has incrementally stripped the people(sovereigns) of our birth right.

  8. Formal education is a human right?? Uhhh, I think I would acquiesce to the point Robert Garrison made before I’d agree with that grievance. And I don’t even 4:20.

  9. Detractors say the protesters are disorganised and so far it appears they are. However, this actually shows that the occupy movement is truly grassroots unlike the Tea party movements which were bankrolled and scripted from the very start by billionaires and the corporations.

I’m not in the US but I hope to see the movement grow and mature.
The Declaration should be the first step in defining the goals and methods of the protest.

  10. I would like to say that it’s as easy as getting a job at MacDonald’s, but it isn’t and you know it patriot! Get of my ass? Get off our ass? You are talking to people as if you ALREADY know there situation? Education? You are assuming these college graduates don’t have an education? OPEN YOUR EYES!!!

  11. jews are the ‘they’ this declaration writes about. there are sheep jews who are in the same boat as the goyim gentiles. there are wealthy powerful jews who network with wealthy powerful goyim gentiles of all races. the bottom line is that jews are the masters of planetary energy flow in the form of paper currencies that represent human labor/energy. they created the world pyramidal power structure and give benefits and pay their goyim helpers of all races very well. thats why people go along with hurting others. all the jews are doing is mimicking nature to make sure they stay in charge while perpetuating humanity on this planet in a death/life cycle so humans don’t go extinct. i sure hope they know what they are doing.

  12. all people have the right to grow consume manufacture any plant substance that has ever grew on the planet earth.
