1973 UFO Sighting, Santa Monica, California

UFO Filmed by Jim Kerr, June 04, 2013. This UFO was similiar to my 1973 sighting.

UFO sighting June, 1973, over Santa Monica Bay. Witnessed by The Truth Denied researcher, Jim Kerr

Make sure to check out the links at the end of this article regarding AATIP, To the Stars Academy of Arts and Science, and Luis Elizondo. Your comments may be left in the comment section as well.

This is an account of a UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) , witnessed by myself (Jim Kerr)  46 years ago that sparked my interest in ufology and the paranormal. This sighting was the first of many to come. If you have ever witnessed a UFO, please be sure to share it with me in the comment section below this article. ALL sightings are of interest to me.

In the summer of 1973, I was 17-years-old and had recently graduated from high school. Like any other teenager, I was into building hot-rod cars and motorcycles. However I wasn’t a  drinker and had never experimented with drugs. To the contrary, I actually set my goals on becoming a police officer.

At approx 9:00 pm, I picked up my friend Kenny at his home in Van Nuys California, and we decided to spend the evening cursing around in my car. This was back in the days when teens would cruise Van Nuys Boulevard showing off their hotrods.

After a few hours, we decided to take a drive to Santa Monica Beach and hang out on the beach. After arriving, we walked over to one of the Lifeguard stations on the beach and sat down on the gangplank that led up to the lookout shack. We sat there for approx 15 minutes talking about our plans for building racing engines and modifications to our cars.

For some strange reason, our conversation changed from cars to aliens and flying saucers. To this day, I don’t know why we began talking about that subject as neither of us had an interest in the subject. About 5 minutes into the conversation, Kenny stated. “I will never believe in flying saucers and aliens until I see one.” As soon as those words left his mouth, we both noticed an illuminated oval object traveling north from the south side of the Bay just off the shore of the north end of the Palos Verdes Penninsula. The object was brilliant white but did not radiate light. Nor did it look anything like an aircraft landing light. Imagine a brilliant white cardboard cutout shaped like an oval traveling across the night sky emitting no radiant light.

Neither of us said a word as we watched this object travel north across the Bay and come to a stop straight in front of us approx 10-12 miles offshore. Based on looking at a map of the area, the UFO traveled approx 12 miles from where we first observed it just north of the Palos Verdes Penninsula until it came to a stop. As it crossed the Bay, it’s speed was approximately the speed of a propeller-driven airplane. At arm’s length, the UFO was approx 4 millimeters wide at the widest points of the oval. When the UFO stopped and hovered directly in front of us, I estimate it was approx 10 degrees above the horizon. Still not saying a word, Kenny and I watched this object hover for approx one minute. Suddenly, in less than one second, the object accelerated straight up and went from approx 4 millimeters in diameter to a pinpoint and was gone from sight. Imagine watching a jet aircraft traveling away from your location. After many minutes, the jet becomes smaller and smaller until you can no longer see it. This UFO went from the size we observed it to a pinhead and vanished in less than a second. The UFO’s speed was unbelievable.

Approx five minutes later we observed three military jets flying south approaching the Santa Monica Bay from the north. I presume these jets were F-4 Phantoms. The closest base these F-4’s could have launched from was the Point Magu Naval Air Station located approx 45 miles north of Santa Monica. The F-4’s were flying back and forth over the Bay at low altitude for approx 5-10 minutes then left the area heading north. It appeared the pilots were looking for something. Most likely, the UFO we had just witnessed.

Summary

In June of 1973, at 2:00 am, I observed an illuminated oval object travel north across the Santa Monica Bay, stop and hover, then accelerate up into the atmosphere at an incredible speed and vanish from sight in less than a second. Minutes later military jets were over the Bay that appeared to be searching for something.

Conclusion

My sighting of this UFO took place 46 years ago, but I remember this incident as if it happened yesterday. This sighting had a profound effect on my life as I had no interest in UFOs or paranormal type events. It was this incident that sparked my interest in researching UFO and paranormal activity. I still have many questions that may never be answered. One question that stands out is, why did we see this UFO immediately after having a conversation with my friend about flying saucers and aliens? My friend Kenny stated,  “I will never believe in flying saucers and aliens until I see one.”, and there it was flying across the Bay. The UFO stopped and hovered as if to say, here I am. To this day, I believe there was a paranormal aspect to this sighting. What that aspect is I have many theories. To add to my suspicions of the paranormal, one week after this sighting, I awoke in the middle of the night and was compelled to look out my bedroom window. I climbed out of bed, looked out the window, and at an approx 45-degree angle in the night sky, I saw the same type of UFO as the Santa Monica Bay UFO. The object hovered for several seconds then accelerated upward and vanished. From 1973 to 1995, my family and I had many paranormal events take place in our lives. Not only UFO sightings, but paranormal type sightings of entities and other strange creatures. In conclusion, I can not identify what I observed back in 1973. It was an Unidentified Flying Object that defied the laws of known physics.

Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP)

ATTIP supposedly was initiated in 2007 by U.S. Senator Harry Reid and Nevada billionaire and Aerospace Developer Robert Bigelow to study Unidentified Flying objects that had been reported by the US Navy. It was funded by the Pentagon for the Defense Intelligence Agency  and ended 5 years and $22 million dollars later. Many unanswered questions have surfaced regarding the length of the program, why it ended and  it’s discoveries, many of which were never made public.

Extra Information: The possibility that UFOs are inter-dimensional

While the majority of people who have an interest in UFOs firmly believe extraterrestrials pilot them, I have many theories, but I always return to the hypothesis they are interdimensional and demonic. Due to personal experience, I have reason to keep this theory on the table. Generally speaking, many ufologists along with the general public will dismiss that so-called extraterrestrials are demonic, fallen angels, or malevolent dimensional beings. Many times when I touch on this subject, people roll their eyes, scoff,  and accuse me of being a Bible thumper. Yes, I have researched the Bible, and keeping an open mind, it is possible the UFO phenomena could be interdimensional, demonic, or Biblical entities known as fallen angels. I’m only saying keep an open mind. No one has the answers, but the aforementioned is a possibility. In the future, I will share some of my other sightings and paranormal experiences.

One of my favorite researchers, filmmakers, authors, and lecturers is L.A. Marzulli. In keeping all possibilities on the table, check out his films, books, and lectures. He and his wife also had their own UFO encounter while driving on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, Ca. Malibu is 18 miles north of Santa Monica. Yesterday, I emailed L.A. asking him about his sighting. Here is his statement along with a YouTube link where he describes the sighting.

“My wife and I had just finished eating dinner, and we were driving north on PCH. It was about 8 pm. The Wifey was driving, and I was in   the passenger seat. I spotted what looked like a plane flying very low  and coming right at us. As I watched I realized it wasn’t a plane and  in fact, it wasn’t moving. Then, my wife spotted it too.  Suddenly another light appeared over the larger one and slowly  descended into the larger light below it. Then the light dissipated into several concentric rings and disappeared.  I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. About 30 seconds went by and BAM! The big light appeared again.  At this point I turned to my wife and said, We’re not in Kansas anymore!” –L.A. Marzulli

Anomalies consisted of obvious man made cloud experiments connected to HAARP type technology for weather control, numerous sightings of UFO’s, signatures of cloaked craft that appear to be using anti gravity technology and seem to interact with Chemtrails. Visible disk shaped objects and orbs that have a strange attraction to Chemtrail spray and more. I do hope that some vigorous discussion about the Meier contacts, and their singular authenticity, will proceed here.

However, I am a bit doubtful because the job done by the various disinformation parties pertaining to UFOs has been so thorough that people accept all of their claims and nonsense…without there being even one piece of actual evidence to substantiate them.

And being confronted with the information and claims I put forward can have a very…disheartening effect on those people who mistakenly thought that they had found, or been provided with, true and meaningful information about extraterrestrials and UFOs from the lot of phonies and profiteers in UFOlogy.

A predictable response is to go back to the very people and organizations that I openly state are dis-informers and suppressors of the truth to get their opinions. Quite predictably, instead of credible, substantiated criticism, etc., they can only offer disparaging comments about the Meier case and my own unyielding stance on it, as if standing up for the truth was offensive, which it may be when people are promoting some profit-oriented agenda.

However, not a one of the parties that I openly call out as charlatans will want to debate or confront me…not surprisingly.

So, if finding and/or being confronted with the truth isn’t depressing – but actually enormously liberating – why not get on with posing questions, challenges, etc., and seeing if you’ve now actually found what you claim to be looking for? Of course that’s NOT what one actually EXPECTS when they venture into this shaky field of UFOlogy.

But if you possess the requisite courage, scientific curiosity and intellectual honesty…give it a try.

Thank you, Michael. I looked into Meier many years ago and will definitely research it once again. Roxy and I do have open minds. Give us some time to research Meier again. Thank, Jim

      Michael,

I am well aware of the disinfo out there, and I will not publish it here in this comment. I have had my fair share of BUSTS. You are assuming an awful lot. Are you aware of a gentleman by the name of Mark McCandlish? I have had hundreds of hours of discussions with him, and find him to be very credible. (He’s an X skunk works Lockheed man). Trust me ( I say that tongue in cheek) The UFO community landscape is more than flawed, it’s downright full of liars and PLAGIARISM … oh and lets not forget E G O . But that is the obvious here, so we can now move on to why a sighting in 1973 is so important. My answer: Because it is an experience, and it is so important! Truth indeed is liberating, and again you seem like you simply want to discredit and ….blah blah blah. No fun to debate with at all. EVIDENCE? Blah! If you had it you would be dead. Being closed minded to me is like being dead. Maybe you could find civil discourse if you had a shred of humanity left in you.Take it down a notch and see what happens.

        Hi TTD,

I understand and appreciate your comments. I’ll add a few things to my comments that may explain a bit more. I know who Mark is and I can say that there are now numerous, independent photographic and special effects experts who have authenticated Meier’s still irreproducible evidence. It’s ironclad and I don’t make unsubstantiated claims and assertions.

I also understand the value of “experiences”, having had seven UFO sightings, three with other witnesses and one where I was…20′ from a small Plejaren monitoring craft, in the mountains of Brazil. While all of these were interesting, they’re strictly anecdotal and provided absolutely NO tangible, testable evidence.

The indisputable fact is that Meier DOES have the evidence…and there’ve been 23 documented attempts on his life because of it.

You and I agree that the field of UFOlogy is filled with phonies, etc. What almost EVErYBODY overlooks – especially all the UFO aficionados who think that there are “aliens” making contact with multitudes of people around the world (with no evidence) is that the confirmed existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life would be the most important development in human history…exceeded only by contact with it.

I know – from personal experience as well s all the evidence – that Meier’s singularly authentic. And it behooves any sincere seeker of truth to confirm this for themselves…and realize the historically unprecedented significance of the case.

This is why I don’t suffer the fools in the UFO community and why I take every opportunity to put the evidence forward…and challenge and irritate scientists, etc.

In all of UFOlogy, there is nothing like this and life is both too short and too precious to worry about stepping on any of those egos you mentioned.

          Michael,
In the strangest way, you remind me of the Mormons that used to live across the street who just wouldn’t give up on trying to recruit me into the Mormon church to be one of their foot soldiers. ….They had such tunnel vision as well. It used to bug me. It was this huge family all living under one roof….just weird. Their God was the “only one”, only their God was the true savior, only their God could prove that they are the ONLY REAL God, etc. For the record, I am a reporter of the unusual events that happen right under our noses on this planet. I report hundreds of genres, UFO’s just being one of them. Although some of what you do say here could be cool if you weren’t so indoctrinated….

          • June 14, 2019 at 1:30 PM

            TTD,

I must point out that your response is typical of the unscientific responses I get when I post references to actual, scientifically proven evidence, information, etc.

I have no desire to “recruit” anyone, it’s the antithesis of self-responsibility and the drain of religions, belief systems, etc., which are never proven to be true and rely of course on “faith and belief”.

You’re demonstrating what’s typical of virtually every person interested in UFOs, i.e. an inability and/or refusal to comment on the actual evidence, facts, etc. In other words, you defer to a religious mindset. The people I work with are…scientifically minded and rely on FACTS to determine the truth.

To say that I’m “indoctrinated” is not only inaccurate but also meaningless if you can’t substantiate it.

Now, if you want to address, question or challenge the facts and/or the independent analyses and authentications, please do.

The problem may also be that you are “a reporter of the unusual events that happen right under our noses on this planet. I report hundreds of genres, UFO’s just being one of them.” In other words, the UFO topic is lumped in with lots of other topics and that’s also because the endless disinformation (mainly about the Meier contacts) has…marginalized the topic to the point of ridiculousness.

Work with me here, you’re hovering around something of unparalleled importance but object to my way of presenting it. Let’s concentrate on the facts.

It would be helpful for you to consider this question: “If this (the Meier evidence) is true, what does it mean…to me?”

  2. June 12, 2019 at 6:52 PM

I know I shouldn’t be surprised that people waste their time chasing lights-in-the-sky…and even go back decades to pointlessly theorize about them. After all, in addition to the mainstream scientists, SETI, etc., UFO enthusiasts will be the…LAST to recognize and know the real truth. Of course I’m talking about the singularly authentic Billy Meier UFO contacts, still ongoing in Switzerland for over 77 years.

In addition to the still irreproducible, independently authenticated UFO photos, films, video, etc., Meier has published over…45,000 pages of information, with hundreds of error-free examples of specific, prophetically accurate scientific information.

Tempting as it may be for know-nothings and wannabes to spout their defamatory attacks against the Meier contacts, the entire skeptical challenge met it’s very well deserved end, courtesy of former top investigator/supervisor for the USAF OSI (see his article at the theyflyblog).

1973 UFO sighting: Thanks Michael for your comments, also interesting website you have as well, I checked it out. Your comment although literate, is confusing and I am unclear as to what it may have to do with Jim Kerrs article? Hit me back and let me know.

      • June 13, 2019 at 10:23 AM

        Hi TTD,

        Thanks for responding.

One of my points is that focusing on lights-in-the-sky, unknown flying objects, etc., is pointless and…regressive. The essential question is: Do extraterrestrial beings exist and are they visiting us? The Meier case establishes that they do exist and that they have been in contact with him for decades.

The really important question then is: What is the…REASON for the contacts?

And the answer to that – as presented in abundance in the information in the contacts – is to help us assure our own, very threatened future survival. As I try to inform people in my public presentations, blogs, videos, etc., the LEAST important thing right now is…UFOs.

And that’s also because most are secret military craft and information such as is now suddenly appearing from the Navy, as well as disinformation organizations like MUFON, TTSA, etc., is designed to mislead, distract, entertain and frighten people…and to keep them from learning what’s actually going on – AND COMING – as long warned of by Meier and the Plejaren.

We’ve documented over 250 examples of specific, error-free, prophetically accurate scientific information in the Meier contacts.

If what I’m saying is accurate, why would we spend two seconds discussing some UFO sighting from 1973?

            Hi Jim,

No, actually his UFO photo and film evidence, etc., have been independently analyzed and…AUTHENTICATED over the past 40 years.

If you go to the Corroboration & Evidence page at www. theyfly.com you’ll find a lot of it, including the analysis and authentication of the WCUFO.

            And if you read:

            https:// theyflyblog.com/ 2018/01/22/usaf-osi-investigator-concludes-billy-meier-ufo-case-real/

I think you’ll see that my emphasis on the singular authenticity, and importance, of the Meier contacts is well supported.

As I often say, if this is true, it’s the single most important event and development in human history.

            A recent presentation:

P.S. Among the biggest spreaders of UFO disinformation are:

Black Vault/TBV Investigations, John Greenewald, AATIP, To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science, Tom DeLonge , and Luis Elizondo.

And yes, I can easily back it up and show that these people ALL know about – and suppress – the Meier case, as does MUFON, OpenMinds, SETI, etc., etc.

Now, ask yourself why NONE of these people/organizations have even ONE pice of evidence of verifiable extraterrestrial origin or manufacture and Meier has well over…1,200.

When the sincere seekers of truth about UFOs and ETs realize how badly they’ve been misled, fooled, scammed, etc., t’will not be a pretty moment.
