Missing Malaysia Airline plane is an unprecedented aviation mystery

 

KUALA LUMPUR: The disappearance of a Malaysian jetliner is an “unprecedented aviation mystery”, a senior official said on Monday

As Many reports continue to flood news rooms across the world, TTD could not help but notice some of the  new developments involving the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, a Boeing 777-200 aircraft,  that  has seemingly vanished after reaching an altitude of 35,000 feet over the South China Sea early Saturday, March 8th.

THE FACTS:

According to several of the earlier reports, the Malaysia Airlines  plane vanished from radar at 1:30 a.m. local time over the waters between Malaysia and Vietnam, 85 miles north of the Malaysian city of Kuala Terengganu. China Central Television said that according to Chinese air traffic control officials, ” the aircraft never entered Chinese airspace.”

There were 239 people on board: 227 passengers and 12 crew members.

Passengers:  152 Chinese passengers (including an infant),38 Malaysians, 12 Indonesians, six Australians, five Indians, three Americans (including an infant),  three French, two Canadians, two New Zealanders, two Ukrainians, one Dutch, one Italian, one Russian,  one Taiwanese,  and one Austrian.Mr. Maraldi reported the theft of his passport  to the Italian police last August,  and the passport of the Austrian man, Christian Kozel, 30, who is currently in Austria, was stolen about two years ago. We do know this much,The passengers with the stolen passports reportedly purchased their tickets together. That’s a bit  suspicious.  Thus far there are no leads on the stolen property.

 Why didn’t a security alert  pop up on the airline agent’s computer when the passengers checked in? 

When  the chief executive of Malaysia Airlines Mr. Ahmad Jauhari was questioned  about possible security lapses, he repeated several times that the airline had no confirmation from the Malaysian authorities that passengers had boarded with stolen passports.Stolen European passports on missing plane

NPR reported that  ” It’s also been revealed that five passengers who checked in for the Malaysia Airlines flight never got on board, NPR’s Anthony Kuhn reports from Beijing. Malaysian aviation officials say those passengers’ bags were taken off the jet before its departure.”

 

More weirdness reported is a  passengers’ mobile phones ring , but no answer.

Before It’s News reported Monday :  “Chinese media reports several of the passengers’ mobile phones were connecting when called by relatives, but the calls were not picked up.

“This morning, around 11:40 [am], I called my older brother’s number twice, and I got the ringing tone,” said Bian Liangwei, sister of one of the passengers. At 2:00 pm, Bian called again and heard it ringing again. “If I could get through, the police could locate the position, and there’s a chance he could still be alive.”

She has passed on the number to Malaysia Airlines and the Chinese police.

“The world is speculating whether the stolen passport holders were terrorists,” while Interpol asks why only a handful of countries world-wide took care to ensure persons possessing stolen passports are not boarding international flights, said Ronald Noble, secretary-general of Interpol on Sunday.

Relatives of the passengers are urging the authorities to search for the location of phones that rang using the Global Positioning System (GPS).

At a press conference in Beijing, however, MAS spokesman Ignatius Ong said one of the numbers that had been passed on to the airline’s command office in Kuala Lumpur failed to get through.”

They are employed by a company designing and manufacturing cutting edge electronic weaponry for the Department of Defense. The search is on for the plane, and mystery shrouds the reports. But really , is there a conspiracy here?

“Malaysia, the United States and Vietnam dispatched ships and aircraft to the mouth of the Gulf of Thailand on Saturday to join an intensive search, and the state-run Xinhua news agency said China was sending a Coast Guard vessel and two naval ships. The Chinese Ministry of Transport said a team of scuba divers who specialize in emergency rescues and recovery had been assembled on Hainan, the southern island-province, to prepare to go on Sunday to the area where the airliner may have gone down .Lai Xuan Thanh, the director of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, said on Saturday that a Vietnamese Navy AN26 aircraft had discovered oil on the surface of the water toward the Vietnam side of the mouth of the Gulf of Thailand, east of the Malaysian Peninsula. The oil is suspected to have come from the missing plane, he added.But on Sunday, Malaysia’s defense minister, Hishammuddin Hussein, added a confusing twist, saying the plane might have gone down west of the Malaysian peninsula. “We are looking at the possibility of an aircraft air turnback,” he said without elaborating whether the plane might have changed course for mechanical reasons or a hijacking, or why the authorities suspected the plane might have reversed course.” New York Times

Although officials have not ruled out terrorism ,there is  no evidence of foul play either. No group has claimed responsibility for downing the jet either, although  Captain Reiner noted concerning the 747 that exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988, “when Qaddafi’s guys blew up Pan Am 103, they weren’t talking about it.”

With that being said, much is to be discovered: like the black boxes on board the MA flight, or how about those stolen passports? Did the plane veer off course, and if so why? Did the plane malfunction, or is it possible it was hijacked?Some conspiracy theorists have already  asked if this is a case of a UFO incident. Why not?

AVIATION HISTORY:

According to Gian Quasarin in his book Into The Bermuda Triangle, more than 75 airplanes and a thousand yachts and commercial ships with their passengers  and crews disappeared without trace in the Deadly Triangle. The most famous of the US Navy losses were the U.S.S. Cyclops, Flight 19, and Civilian Tanker SS Marine Sulphur Queen.

The fact is history tells the hundreds of tales regarding missing planes and phenomenons, such as the case of  D. B.  Cooper, a man who supposedly hijacked a Boeing 727 aircraft in the airspace between Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, on November 24, 1971, extorted $200,000 in ransom, and parachuted to an uncertain fate.(meaning , his remains were never found). Despite an extensive manhunt and an ongoing FBI investigation, the perpetrator has never been located or positively identified. The case remains the only unsolved air piracy in American aviation history to date .

Perhaps  we will never know the final fate of passangers and crew of the missing Malaysia Airline plane, but as USA Today’s headlines read “We Still Don’t Know What Happened To Flight MH370.”
